The same weather system that moved across both tournament venues on Day One of the 2025 MidAtlantic tournament continued to deliver wind, clouds plus on and off light rain on Day Two. As such, the entire fleet of 114 boats stayed tied to the dock today. In 34 years, that’s only the second time the entire fleet took a lay day. Though this current weather pattern is unrelated to Hurricane Erin, both systems are certainly having their impact on planning fishing days this week for tournament participants. Skies are forecast to clear tomorrow and although the swell offshore will begin to build as the day goes on and we begin to feel the impact of Hurricane Erin, the word from some participants at both venues is they were going to give it a go.
With no boats fishing and consequently no fish weighed today, the standings remain unchanged after Day Two. The white marlin leader continues to be the 71-pounder weighed by Pocomoke, Maryland’s Jimmy Hahn on his Tail Chaser. Second and third place remain vacant. The blue marlin category remains wide open as none have been weighed through two days of competition. Worthy of note 247 white marlin, nine blue marlin and two sailfish were released on Day One.
Nick Neary’s Curtis Bay, Maryland-based Lit Up is still atop the leaderboard in the tuna category thanks to a 103-pound big eye. Matt Weber’s Vero Beach, Florida-based Max Bet is in second place with his 97-pound yellowfin while Joe Miele and his Blue Runner from Manasquan, New Jersey is in third place with a 96-pound yellowfin.
Bobby Pastorius of Ocean City, Maryland and his Jenny Poo continue to lead the wahoo category with a 60 pounder. Second and third place currently belong to Glenelg, Maryland’s Darrin Brown and his Catchin’ Grief with wahoo of 23 and 22 pounds. There’s still a tie in the dolphin category at 22 pounds which is shared by Fanwood New Jersey’s John Schwab on his Pegasus and Chesapeake Beach, Maryland’s Shawn Gibson aboard his Wound Tight.
In the point categories, Michael Jordan’s Hobe Sound, Florida-based Catch 23 leads the white marlin category with 900 points for 12 releases followed in second place by Stone Harbor, New Jersey’s Jamie Diller aboard his Canyon Lady with 825 points for 11 releases. Third place is currently held by Hampstead, North Carolina’s Brian Dressler aboard his Sail’s Pitch with 675 points for nine releases.
The blue marlin points lead is currently held by Grasonville, Maryland’s Ed Dunn on his D.A. Sea with 300 points for two releases followed by Bill Haugland’s Bishopville, Maryland-based Lights Out with 150 points for one release. Third place currently belongs to Zack Odachowski aboard his Water Damage from Ocean City, Maryland with 150 points for one release. Note that point ties are broken based on time of catch.
The tuna points leader is Lit Up with 51.5 points followed by Max Bet with 48.5 points. Blue Runner is in third place with 48 points. Catch 23 is the leader for the Most Points Overall award with 900 points.
