Eliminating 200lb Minimum Tournament Weight on Makos Looks to Bring More Participants in for the 39th Annual South Jersey Shark Tournament

Spring has arrived and the fish migrations are starting to show! As always, the 39th Annual South Jersey Shark Tournament will set off our tournament season with a bang. It continues to be one of our most popular events, with fishing friends coming together year after year to go head to head in search of the toothy critters.

Once again, we’ve seen some changes to the Federal regulations, but this time in our favor. As a result, we are eliminating our tournament’s 200 lb. minimum qualifying weight for makos and switching to minimum lengths. Our new tournament minimum lengths for makos will be 84” for females and 76” for males. Recreational anglers have always been conservation leaders, and we have chosen sizes above the federal minimums that both recognize the sensitive nature of the stock and allow for increased landings.

Online Registration is now open as well. Last year we launched our new app which received great reviews. Download the South Jersey Tournaments App for your IPhone or Android so you can follow the tournament every step of the way and get real-time updates!

With the 2019 federal changes in our favor and new tournament minimums, we are expecting even more participants in this year’s event! So if you or your fishing buddies find yourself on the fence, we can assure you that this year’s purse will likely be the one you don’t want to miss. Enter today for your chance to win big!

We’re standing by for any questions you might have. Please feel free to contact us by calling our tournament line at (609) 884-0177 or emailing me directly at [email protected]. We’re looking forward to another great South Jersey Shark Tournament this year and we hope you’ll join us; see you at the scales!
